July Report

On 10th July we ran another very successful Summer Sale at the Village Hall. Most of our members contributed their time, their produce, and bags and boxes of items to sell. There was a lovely selection of home-made cakes, jams & marmalade, fresh fruit & vegetables, and some plants, a bumper assortment of toys, books, & videos, along with some good quality new household items. In one corner of the Hall a variety of new and extremely good "as new" clothes was sold next to the Lucky Dip for all ages! The "White Elephant" stall had an amazing range of the usual items which attracted many a bargain hunter! Teas & coffees refreshed those who needed a rest, and the Tombola sold out of its prizes which ranged from water to wine, whisky and Whiskas! The raffle was very well supported with a good range of prizes. The efforts of all involved were rewarded with a profit of over £400 towards club funds. It is a true indication of the wonderful rapport and friendships between our members which has kept the Club so much alive for so long.

We are pleased to donate a selection of our unsold items to the Beaumont Village Fete on August Bank Holiday, which supports the Church & the Village Hall.

Birthdays for July are Joyce Hide, Freda & Doug Bailey, and Don Walters, and we gave special congratulations to Alec & Jean Day on their recent Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

Our next meeting is on 7th August when we will be entertained by Susan Leng on the subject of "Granny's Attic" (maybe some of those nick-knacks on the White Elephant stall were worth more than 50p!) We hope to see everybody there for another enjoyable afternoon, this time without effort on our part! Don't forget, you don't have to live in Beaumont to join our club - new members are always welcome.
