BEAUMONT PARISH COUNCIL March 2006
- Essex County Council Highways have visited Chapel Road to assess the traffic situation and have agreed to add further speed limit signs and pedestrian awareness signs in an attempt to improve safety. They have also installed a flashing speed indicator for one month. It would be possible for the Village to purchase its own sign for £3500 plus maintenance or to share one with another Parish. It was thought that this would be too expensive but we would appreciate your thoughts.
- The project to landscape Wass’s Corner is still proceeding and we are awaiting the final approval. Mr Mills and Mr Day have promised their help with providing top soil and equipment and we are extremely grateful to them.
- We are still waiting for information on the grant application for the extension to the Village Hall but hope to hear soon. Meanwhile plans are being prepared by the Village Hall Committee.
- The telephone box in Harwich Road is not to be replaced by B.T. nor will they consider relocating it.
- Beaumont Quay has been well maintained and there is parking provision on the site. Bob Cole is negotiating further improvements. Don’t forget this beautiful local historical site.
- The Police are intending to reorganise their provision and our new station will be at Weeley with Thorpe being reopened. 9 officers will police our area from these stations.
- A new web site is to be set up including the Parish Council and local activities. It will be interactive so watch this space for details.
- The area around the Village sign is to be improved thanks to Doreen Udell who has undertaken to do the work. We are most grateful to her. The project will be funded from the remains of the Millennium Fund.
- The whole council attended a training course on planning matters. They were not filled with confidence that enforcement issues were dealt with in line with decisions taken in planning thus undermining any efforts made by us to ensure fairness.
