BEAUMONT PARISH COUNCIL
- A tribute was paid to Stan Whitby, whose recent unexpected death shocked and saddened us all. Stan was for over 50 years a stalwart and reliable driving force within the Parish Council and the Village Hall Committees. Nothing was too much for him and he was totally dedicated to Beaumont. The Village Sign, which was instigated by him, will remain as a memorial to Stan. He will be sadly missed.
- We are in negotiation with Essex County Council Highways to obtain permission to take care of Wass’s Corner. Agreement has been given but one or two formalities have to be concluded first. This will enable us to level and plant the site with the help of E.C.C. Highways to make it an attractive addition to the Village as well as securing it from misuse! Trevor Wrycraft has drawn up a plan and the Tree planting should begin soon, once the site has been prepared. Help will be needed, maybe at short notice, and we will post information on the notice board at the Farm Shop when we are due to start.
- A speed survey has been carried out in Chapel Road and it confirmed that many vehicles exceed the speed limit. Over 800 vehicles used the road on the day in question. A site meeting is being arranged to discuss possible solutions. Again watch the notice board for information.
- The Parish have applied for a grant from the Rural Activities Grants for £10000 to enable us to build an extension at the side of the hall for storage and to resurface the floor.
- British Telecom are not proposing to replace the telephone box on Harwich Road which was recently destroyed in an accident. We have made representations to ask that the box is reinstated but consideration could be given to relocate it in a safer place, such as near to the Village Hall..
- The Crime and Disorder partnership recently produced a circular giving everyone a contact number to ring in cases of Vandalism, Noise, Litter, Trespass, Graffiti, Foul Language and other social disturbances. A Parishioner contacted us to suggest that last summer’s events qualified for all of these and we agreed. The number to telephone in cases of antisocial behaviour is 08456052222.
- The dates of the next meetings are Monday March 13th, Annual Assembly WEDNESDAY April 19th and Annual General Meeting Monday May 15th. Meetings in the Village Hall @ 7pm.
